Formal Credentials or Community Connections Debate at 2010 NAA Convention (Clip 1 of 11)
At the 2010 National Afterschool Association Convention, Eric Gurna of Development Without Limits moderated a debate between Carla Sanger of LA's BEST Afterschool Enrichment Program and Mark Levine of the Center for After School Excellence at TASC. The debate, entitled "Formal Credentials or Community Connections," explored different perspectives on the issue of how to train and professionalize the afterschool workforce. Staffing Changes at DWL
DWL is pleased to announce the hiring of our new Business Manager, Ruben Trammell. Ruben comes to us with significant experience on both the programmatic and administrative/financial aspects of community and youth development. He will oversee the business and fiscal management end of things at DWL.
DWL is also pleased to announce the hiring of Sam Quiah to become the new Director of Professional Development. Sam has been a training and curriculum specialist consultant for DWL since 2005, and has been involved with DWL programming since 2002. A trained social worker, policy analyst, and educator, Sam has worked at the United Nations as a youth policy analyst, at South Asian Youth Action as a program coordinator, and at Global Kids, Inc. as director of their Human Rights Activist Project.
After serving in a consultant capacity as DWL’s Director of Training, Belinda Passafaro is moving into the role of Training Specialist. Belinda will continue to be a part of the leadership of DWL, as well as a key member of our consulting team.
